Where does Botox® come from and how does it work?
Botox® comes from Clostridium Botulinum bacteria. It is a purified protein that smoothes the muscles by blocking nerve impulses. It blocks the release of Acetylcholine, the chemical that causes muscles to contract.
The toxin is eliminated from the body within 24 hours and only its effect on the muscle continues to work.
What should I expect?
The procedure is simple and takes approximately 10-15 minutes. No anaesthesia is required and there is no down time involved. There may be brief discomfort from the injections, lasting seconds. Bruising is a possibility which can last 2-3 days.
How long will it take to work and how long will it last?
It takes 3-8 days to show its effect. Botox® treatments last approximately 3-4 months. What can it be used to treat?

Who can't have Botox®?
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you've had a previous allergy to Botox®/Dysport®
- Anybody with a Neuromuscular Disease
- If you have an infection at the proposed injection site
What should I do after my treatment?
- No exercise/facials/massage for 24 hours
- No peels for one week
- No IPL for one week
- Remain upright for 2-3 hours after treatment
